WORKSHOP
CHRIS BANGLE
FUTURE PERSONAL EMOTIONAL MOBILITY
The Paradigm After the Next Car
Scuola Politecnica di Design, Milan September 2009
The workshop takes part in a project to create a new breed of sustainable shared transportation for the year 2050.
Based on the concept that the mass migration of people from the countryside to cities will in the future create even more social, economic, and ecological differences between population zones, attendees work closely with Bangle towards designing systems that engage on an emotional as well as an economic level, satisfying the personal transportation needs and desires of a disparate global population while minimizing the impact on the environment.
CONTEXT
Organic Essentialism
Today, the car is one of the important phenomena that reevaluates the content of space and time conception by its sembolic and esthetic characteristics. While the cars re-determine the perceptions of the modern period by changing the limits of the space and carrying out the sense of the location to a new dimension, the place we live in isn’t scaled by the distance between two different points anymore; it is described by the time matter that we need to go from one place to another.
